We strongly encourage you to check in with us first to confirm availability for your event date before ordering a Tasting! This helps us to provide you with the best customer service possible.

Our monthly tastings are “to go”.

Our format allows you to do the tasting in the comfort of your own home, in the company of any loved ones you want to include in the process (optional!). We then discuss and finalize all the details for your cake order via email or phone, at your leisure — rather than having to cram the whole process into a 45-min in-person appointment. We’ve been lucky enough to serve thousands of happy clients with this “to go” tasting format over our 14 years in business.

Note that we do offer personal consultations for qualifying clients who have already reserved their date with us for a Fine Art Wedding Cake with at least 9-12 months of lead time. This is a design-only appointment, so we would still suggest ordering our monthly “to go” tasting as a first step.

We cannot change or substitute any of the flavors in each month’s tasting. Thank you for appreciating how much time and care goes into preparing all the samples for our monthly tastings!


Please note: The December Tasting contains dairy, eggs, and gluten. If you are avoiding any of these ingredients, please scroll down to the “Dietary Restrictions” section below for info about ordering GF or vegan samples.

Dietary Restrictions?

All of the flavors on our current menu can be made VEGAN or GLUTEN-FREE. If you are avoiding dairy or eggs (or both), please choose the VEGAN option. While we do not offer cake options that are both vegan AND gluten-free at this time, our best selling vegan and gluten-free chocolate brownies are available to order through our online store.


Options for sampling our VEGAN or GLUTEN-FREE cakes:

1) Order a custom sample (or several), for pickup from our lower Queen Anne Studio.

Note: We can only offer GF / vegan tastings if there’s at LEAST 4-6 weeks of lead time before your event!

First, take a look at our Cake Menu. Then, send us an email to let us know which flavors you’d like to sample, along with your event date, guest count, etc so we can check availability. We’ll determine a mutually-agreeable date for pickup before sending you an invoice for the tasting fee.

Each sample is packaged in a compostable 16oz container, containing cake and filling, and generously serves two to four people. Cost: $40 per flavor.

2) Alternatively, you can order a “Deli Cake” from our online store.

The smallest size available serves 4-6. (Deli Cakes can also be ordered for special events, not just for tasting!)

ALLERGY WARNING: All of our baked products may come into contact with WHEAT, EGGS, PEANUTS, TREE NUTS, and MILK. Our gluten-free and vegan cakes are baked separately with great care using sanitized equipment. However, we cannot guarantee that they will be free from all traces of the aforementioned allergens. FAQ

I’d like to order a Cake Tasting, but I want to make sure you’re available for my date first. How do I do this?

It’s wise to check availability first, as our schedule can book up quickly for certain peak-season dates. Please fill out our contact form with as many details as possible about your event and the cake you’re dreaming of. We’ll check the calendar and get back to you as soon as we can.

My event is coming up before the next Cake Tasting will be released. Can I still sample your cakes?

We have a selection of small cakes (e.g. “Signature Cakes” and “Deli Cakes”) available for purchase our online store. Those items will give you a great introduction to the overall quality of our work and our approach to flavor and texture. Alternatively, you can download the TooGoodToGo app, and look up “Honey Crumb” on there. Most Fridays, and sometimes other days too, we offer “Surprise Bags” of cake scraps (trimmed from all the custom cakes we bake each week) for $5.99 via the app. This is a fantastic way to sample our delicious cakes while helping to reduce food waste!

I live out of state. Can you ship cake samples to me?

It depends. We’d need to mail your Cake Tasting using UPS guaranteed overnight express shipping, which is not available to certain residential ZIP codes within the United States. If you do reside in a ZIP code that is eligible for overnight shipments, you’d need to be home when the package arrives. (The cakes are fragile & temperature-sensitive, and must be brought inside right away!)

We only ship during the cooler months of the year. (Shipments during summer are not available.) Overnight shipping rates with UPS are typically approx. $110-$160, excluding the cost of the Cake Tasting itself. Please contact us for more details!

I cannot pick up a Cake Tasting on the date(s) specified. Can I schedule a different pickup date?

We are so sorry, but we are a tiny team and we make upwards of 50x tastings at a time; we aren’t able to schedule different pickup dates for individual orders.

Our sample cakes are freshly baked the morning of pickup, and need time to cool before we can add the fillings and package them for you. They will not be ready earlier than the time specified on our Tastings page. Likewise, if you are running late for your pickup and won’t make it before we close, we do understand — life happens! — but PLEASE CALL US so we can make alternative arrangements. Carla’s cell is 425 577 9220. We typically have several wedding cake deliveries all over the region that we need to be on time for!

Please only purchase a Tasting on a pickup date that you’re certain works for your schedule. Alternatively, you are welcome to ask a friend or family member (or hire a third-party service, like Task Rabbit) to collect the tasting on your behalf.

What if I want to sample a flavor that wasn’t included in my Cake Tasting?

Our monthly Cake Tasting includes four flavors from our best selling menu, which alternate every month. If there’s enough lead time before your event, you can simply order two tastings, one month apart, to enjoy our entire menu.

Having said that, all of our flavors are incredibly popular (or they wouldn’t end up on the menu after our recipe-testing phase each year!). We’re confident that you’ll love them and will be able to pin down your own preferences after sampling any of our tasting sets.

Preparing individual samples is extremely labor-intensive, since we make all of our cakes and fillings entirely from scratch (no box mix or pre-packaged fillings here). We focus on quality over quantity. Thank you for understanding!

How should I enjoy my Cake Tasting?

We recommend that you enjoy your cake samples within 24-48 hours of pickup, for the best experience. If you wish to taste them over a longer period, please keep the individual containers tightly sealed, and store in the fridge. PLEASE ensure that your cake samples are at room temperature before enjoying them.

It’s a great time to pop some bubbly if you are so inclined, though it’s wise to have a glass of water handy to cleanse your palate between bites. We also suggest taking tasting notes. Your specific feedback is invaluable to us as we collaborate with you to craft your dream cake!

Please remember to compost the containers in which your samples were packaged, and help us all reduce our environmental impact.

I’m not planning to order a wedding cake or custom celebration cake at this time, but I’d still love to enjoy a Cake Tasting, just for fun (or to give as a gift). Is this possible?

Yes! We’d love for you to sample our cakes, for any reason whatsoever. We’re convinced you’ll enjoy your Cake Tasting so much that you’ll come back to us for celebration cakes in future.
